Talk:Die Studies Database
Assumptions about main elements:
- Main category: "Dies", e. g. RQEM ad. 485 will be in category "Dies".
- There will be no separate category "Collections", but the collection information will be stored with each die.
- There will be a category "Literature" with will link to a single literature entry, e. g. Asthon 2007 which will hold all the details about the literature: R. H. J. Ashton, "The pre-Imperial Coinage of Iasos", Numismatic Chronicle 167 (2007), p. 47-78 (catalogue p. 69-71).
- For the authority-informtion, we have several options:
- just have the option to add multiple fields "add authority" and then enter two fields (roi, empereru, danystie) and Nomisma link
- Minimal approach: We could also only store: http://nomisma.org/id/alexander_iii - if this is suffidient information
- Maximum approach: If authority is important, we could have each authority entered seperately. This would mean a category "Authorities", with an etry like Alexandre III le Grand where details like Nomisma-Link, title (King Argyade/Temenid), period (336-323 BC) and type (claimed authority) can be entered. In the Coins, you then only need to reference to several authorities, in a field "authorities", wih values like Alexandre III le Grand, Philippe II This is comparable to what we did with the "Persone" database in FINA.
- Is the column "N" in the Die Study database Excel sheet the same as the "Mint" field in the Authorities Excel sheet? If yes, we should also here go for a maximum approach and have a separate category "Mints", wiht an entry like "Aspendos" and the filde "Autorité émettrice/atelier" will on a Die page will hold this value.
Structure
Mainly taken from the Word document examples:
- Page title
- RQEM ad. 691 - Saitabi (Ibérie), bronze, demi-unité, IIe-Ier siècle avant J.-C. column C
- I suggest only RQEM ad. 691
- what does "ad" stand for? I thought at first "anno domini", but 691 is not a year, but the numerical ID, right?
- External Link
- (gallica.bnf.fr) column D
- ID (of the database) column A
- This means our internal ID Of the SILVER database, right? It will not be identical to column A, but rather an arbitrary numerical ID
- URI column B
- I guess this means our own URL to the entry in the SILVER Wiki, right?

- what is the idea behind a numbering?
- URI de la noctice
-
- What does this mean? Seams to be emtpy all the time
- Titre de la notice (dénomination, métal, autorité, région)
- Title of the notice (name, metal, authority, region)
- seems to be a title. Is not a nice page title: RQEM ad. 488 - Iasos (Carie), bronze, dichalque ou tetrachalque (?), début ou milieu du IIe siècle avant J.-C.. We can save this title in a field, but we would need to have an idea what will be the name of a page for the coin.
- I would suggest only RQEM ad. 488 - will this be suffucient for an uniqu page name?
- What das RQEM mean?
- What does "notice" mean? Does it mean something like "discovered object" (objet découvert).
